His take was essentially that being a good priest takes similar qualities to being a good husband/father, but that it , like anything worthwhile, involves sacrifice. In this case the sacrifice is married life.

To the Cor 7:8 verse, and the interpretation that "men who truly can control themselves should be celibate priests, but to those who cannot, they can marry", I would suggest that perhaps they are not truly called to the priesthood if they are not called to celibacy. I think it comes down to discerning what is one's true calling from God, and trusting that since His Church (under His authority) requires that priests be unmarried, he wouldn't call someone to both. In deciding to become a priest, he should recognize that he is renouncing the potential to be married. If that's not something he's prepared to do, then maybe the priesthood isn't for him, and that's not at all a fault. There are many ways to serve the God and the Church, in states of life, and if he's serious about serving but also serious about getting married, there are many lay orders and such to become involved in.

Just my view, on a single aspect of the topic.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427243111279814147.post-4055728644705878222010-06-05T06:03:43.446-07:002010-06-05T06:03:43.446-07:00I don't know any humans who have been castrate...I don't know any humans who have been castrated, so I just asked my cat, and he told me: Castration doesn't always have the effect of silencing the sex drive, even if it's done before puberty :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427243111279814147.post-25431532240783008012010-06-04T07:18:20.733-07:002010-06-04T07:18:20.733-07:00Some of the Eastern Catholic churches (the one'...Some of the Eastern Catholic churches (the one's who follow Rome) allow their priests to marry. There has been talk that we should allow those who adhere to the Roman Church to get married. As it stands now, if you decide to work at a Roman Catholic Church and you are from an Eastern you can remain married.Deltaflutehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00489950329698009256noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427243111279814147.post-10548250012988397902010-06-03T23:21:12.246-07:002010-06-03T23:21:12.246-07:00I vote for casteration.... worked for my cat....I vote for casteration.... worked for my cat....NoReplyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15343264535069766618noreply@blogger.com
